Hyderabad, May 8, 2015: A five member delegation from the Government of Telangana led by KT Rama Rao, Minister of IT & Panchayat Raj, began its two-week business trip in the United States on a very successful note in Washington DC on May 6. The delegation is on a multi-city tour of the United States to interact with top leadership of major global corporations and large investors to project Telangana as the preferred state in India, for their investments.

On the first day of the program, Indian Ambassador to United State Sri Arun Kumar Singh met with the Minister along with senior leadership of the US-India Business Council (USIBC) at Hay Adams, a historic venue in the vicinity of White House. The Ambassador was very impressed with the rapid strides the state of Telangana has achieved in its short history of less than a year.
Another significant meeting during the day was with President of Boeing, Marc Allen. Boeing is the market leader in Aerospace and Defense manufacturing in the world. Due to the opening up of this sector to private players in India, they are seriously considering identifying a suitable location in India for setting up their manufacturing facility.

The Minister gave a detailed presentation on the advantages of Hyderabad for the sector, and how a comprehensive ecosystem has already developed in the last few years. Boeing has decided to send a senior leadership team to Hyderabad in July to discuss the proposal further.
