Hyderabad, June 2, 2015:

The Government of Telangana aims to use the increasing mobile penetration to deliver services effectively through m-governance. Realizing the power of internet, the Government of Telangana has taken up an initiative to make Hyderabad a completely WiFi enabled city. This will make Hyderabad the first in the country to do so.
This first-of-its-kind initiative is a high speed 5G network (802.11 AC) where 20MBPS download speeds could be achieved – a rare feat that couldn’t be achieved in the city of New York till date. Keeping in view the cyber security issues BSNL and QuadGen have formed a consortium to achieve highest service quality levels and as a first step have set up 40 hotspots in Tank Bund Area.
The facility has received a positive response and has seen 70,000 user logins since it was inaugurated on April 16th, 2015. Today, a citizen is able to watch a 1080p HD movie while walking on the roads on Tank Bund. Till now more than 70,000 users sessions were covered and 600Gb of data was downloaded.

Under the Dynamic and Visionary leadership of Hon’ble Minister of IT&Panchayat Raj KT Ram Rao, Digital Telangana initiatives are being further expanded with the offer of Global class WiFi services to the Old and Historic City area of Charminar, as well as to Gandhi Hospital, NIMS, Birla Mandir, Birla science Museum, Birla Planetarium & Public gardens .

Charminar area and the citizens would become Netizens from 2nd June 2015.Charminar as a historic monument and a Tourist place is becoming the India’s first Digital Tourism enabled place with the availability of Highest Speed, Absolute Security and Best Quality enabled WiFi services.

Telangana Govt in a strategic partnership with BSNL and USA based QuadGen Wireless is further making efforts to enhance the coverage to Salarjung Museum, Golkonda,Faluknama Palace, MGBS, JBS and other Historic, public and Tourist locations.
