- Complaints alleging that he is occupying a Gachibowli plot and dumping soil in a pond in Rayadurgam
City Bureau, November 28 (Namaste Telangana)/Serilingampalli: Two more cases have been registered against Sandhya Constructions MD Saranala Sridhar Rao. A case has been registered at the Gachibowli police station for illegally entering a plot in Gachibowli, destroying the equipment in it and trying to take possession of the plot. The details of the case are as follows. A woman named Umadevaraju, who purchased a 700-yard plot in Plot No. 84 of FCI Colony in Gachibowli Survey No. 124 and 125 under Serilingampalli Mandal, has been in the position since then.
Meanwhile, Sandhya Constructions MD Sridhar Rao, who had his eye on this place, had tried to take possession of it several times in the past. With this, Umadevaraju installed a reed fence in his plot, built a watchman’s room and installed CCTV cameras. Meanwhile, on the 26th of this month, Sridhar Rao’s followers Venkatesh and Saikumar Reddy illegally entered the plot, cut the wires of the CCTV cameras, threatened the watchman and demolished the watchman’s room and the fencing. Upon learning of this, Umadevaraju filed a complaint with the Gachibowli police on the 27th of this month. The Gachibowli police, which have registered a case, are investigating against Sridhar Rao and his followers Venkatesh and Saikumar Reddy under sections 329/3, 324/4, 351/2, and redwith 3,5 of the BNS.
Hydra, which said it would keep a close watch on encroachments on ponds, government lands and parks within the ORR, is now moving in the same direction. After receiving complaints about encroachments at its office, it is conducting field visits and conducting investigations. On Wednesday, Hydra Commissioner Ranganath along with his team visited seven ponds. The commissioner said that the complaints filed by the locals against encroachments at the ponds will be investigated in detail and the commissioner will conduct an investigation after learning about the situation there. Hydra has been given all the powers under the Municipal Act to protect the ponds.
This includes taking action against those who encroach on government properties and removing them if they are found to be encroaching. The Hydra DRF team, which observed a person dumping soil in the Bhagirathamma tank and leveling it, also informed the irrigation officials about this. Municipal, Revenue and Irrigation department officials say that even though Hydra has the authority to file a complaint itself if encroachments are found to be taking place anywhere, why should it file complaints with the relevant department officials instead?
In the past, Hydra had reported to the government about the officers who had given their services to the police regarding encroachments on ponds and government lands and filed cases against them. At that time, Hydra did not have all the powers. After the recent ordinance, Hydra is being called an institution. In this context, questions are being raised about the difficulties Hydra is facing in filing a complaint directly. When a Hydra official was contacted on the same matter, he commented that wherever encroachments occur, it is normal to file a complaint with the relevant local authorities and there is no need to look into this in depth. However, the irrigation and revenue officials say that they are doing this just to drag them around the courts.
