Musi Riverfront Project: Revanth Reddy’s 30-Day Plan

Nalgonda, Telangana – Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced that the design for the ambitious Musi Riverfront Project will be completed within 30 days, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) expected in 18 months. This announcement was made during a 2.5 km padayatra from Sangem to Dharmareddypally in Nalgonda, where Reddy underscored his commitment to revitalizing the Musi River, which has been plagued by severe pollution. He emphasized that the project would move forward despite any obstacles, promising transformative changes along the riverfront.

Reddy, who plans to lead another padayatra from Vadepally to Hyderabad in January with a rally at Charminar, called on BRS MLAs to join him, challenging those who oppose the Musi project. Addressing the environmental damage to the Musi River, he compared the river’s pollution to the devastation of a nuclear bomb and emphasized the urgent need for restoration efforts. He criticized those opposing the initiative, stating that opposition would be decisively addressed.

Drawing comparisons to national projects, Reddy highlighted the Central Government’s support for projects like the Ganga and Sabarmati Riverfronts, questioning why Telangana’s Musi project should be met with resistance. Additionally, he pledged to address the longstanding fluoride contamination issues in Nalgonda, promising permanent solutions.

Refuting accusations of financial misconduct, Reddy cited Dharani land management to illustrate his commitment to transparency, stressing that his priorities lie in improving the lives of Telangana’s residents rather than personal gain. He noted that, if abused, land management could yield immense profits but stated this was not his goal.

In a surprising turn, Congress leaders invited Left representatives to the rally to address the gathering, inadvertently amplifying farmer grievances in Telangana. Left leader Nari Ilaiah highlighted ongoing challenges in the agricultural sector, urging the State Government to ensure fair prices and expand programs like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima for farmers’ welfare.
